The 21st Century Schoolhouse
International Youth Environmental Summit
Call for Contributions
Financial Contributions and Donations
The 21st Century Schoolhouse can benefit from both large and small contributions and donations.
A contribution of $250,000 is being sought to endow participation of children from the United States in The 21st Century Schoolhouse. Principal and interest earnings from the endowment will finance technology, research, accommodations, and travel costs for the children to participate in the summits in Australia, South Africa, Israel, Brazil and Japan.
Major sponsors offering grants or donations of $6,500 are needed to finance one day of the first International Youth Environmental Summit, including room and board and transportation for the children.
Sponsors contributing $250 to $2,500 will host events for the children ranging from refreshments during the course of their stay to the formal opening and closing dinners.
The lifetime memories of the 120 children participating in the International Youth Environmental Summit will be enhanced by memorabilia from Oregon and the United States. Small gift donations will be shared with the children with acknowledgments of the donors.
The virtual schoolhouse relies on the emerging technology of the Internet as the children work together on projects to be presented at the International Youth Environmental Summit. The capabilities of that technology far exceed the computer resources available to the children, particularly in the United States (South Salem High School) and South Africa (Alexander Sinton High School). Donations of new technology in hardware and software will help make The 21st Century Schoolhouse a reality.
