Terry Sanbrook - Australia Director

Terry Sanbrook has been involved in education since 1968 when he became an English and Drama teacher in the United Kingdom. During his 10 year teaching career in England, Terry served as the head of both the English and Drama departments in various grammar schools. In 1978, Terry and his family moved to Perth, Western Australia where he taught Speech, English and Drama and later worked in the Education Department's Head Office. There, he was involved in statewide literacy work and curriculum reform and implementation.

In 1992 he gained the Deputy Principal's position at Safety Bay Senior High School and in 1994, became the Foundation Principal at Warnbro Community High School, approximately 80 kilometers south of Perth. During the past six years with Warnbro Community High School, Terry has been a maverick in cutting-edge educational reform for the 21st century. He designed and established a community-based school where students focus on the standard curriculum through three broad thematic programs: technology, environmental science and creative arts.

Warnbro's state-of-the-art campus reflects the trends in 21st century education and is among the technological elite. Terry has helped reconstruct the teaching and learning day and focuses on outcome- and standards-based schooling. He has led his school's participation in The 21st Century Schoolhouse, and guided Warnbro in hosting the second biennial International Youth Environmental Summit in Perth in 1999.
