The 21st
Century Schoolhouse Educator Conference & Directors Meeting
As being chosen by my school to participate in the 21st
Century Schoolhouse Educator Conference and Directors meeting, I felt really
anxious of attending the conference and meeting new people from different
countries.
At first I had many expectations about how the conference
would be and what projects would be there to work on, but my expectations were
not too far from the reality.
In the first day, we arrived at the
conference location in Salem, Oregon, which was a very beautiful place where you
could feel comfortable and ready to work.
The people there were very nice and
welcoming.
After that day, every school presented what local action
and community education projects they have done concerning environment, health,
… etc, in order to discuss and exchange new ideas about what new things could
be done for the 21st Century Schoolhouse.
We as
students, being responsible of The Global Echo magazine, discussed what new
things could be done to enhance the magazine.
We also had a presentation by Ralph Cordell from Centers
for Disease Control &Prevention (CDC) to help us gain new ideas and how it
could be applied to the 21st Century Schoolhouse.
And the last work was about making a project to use
epidemiology in the schoolhouse, so that all schools could work together.
Finally, I hope that the next conference would be the
same, in working as a team and understanding each other, and bringing out
new projects that could help us and the world, in having a better place.

Activities: The Educator’s Conference
Being involved in the 21st Century Schoolhouse
Educator’s Conference has been a lot of fun. It is giving me a chance to
interact with people from all over the world. On our stay here we will be
working or projects together. To help us get to know each other, the staff has
some scheduled activities for us that we will be doing through out the week.
On Monday, June 27, we took a trip to Pacific City. The
bus arrived at 4:15p.m. Everyone was excited and anxious. The drive was not that
long it was about an hour drive, although the views we seen where outstanding.
Once we got there we went to Cape Kiwanda where we ate
pizza and salad. After we ate dinner we headed out towards the shore.
The first thing the delegates and I did was run up the
sand dune. The sand dune was very high but it was not very steep. It’s a hill
made up of different sands.
While we were up there we took photos of the water and
each other. We headed back to the water near some rocks to hang out. The trip
was a great opportunity to get to know the other delegates.
By having these activities we get to talk and get more
comfortable with each other. By doing that we work better as a team and are
willing to share more ideas. There are more trips the staff at 21cs has planed
for us. Today we will be going to the zoo in Portland, Oregon. There will be a
concert that will be held at the zoo after it closes. On the night of June 27thwe
went bowling at Town and Country, which was fun. I am also looking forward to a
barbeque that we will have on the 28th. On behalf of the delegates
who attended this educator’s conference, I would like to thank everybody
involved with the schoolhouse for setting these activities up.
