  3. Forest issues. Comparing habitat destruction of Rainforests in Indonesia And Inigenous forest of Australia.
  4. Population issues - Related to resource management and cultural issues.

  Year 10 students looking at global issues of climate change Global warming and ozone layer.
  Year 11 course in Environmental Management - Students present at local Environmental fair.
  Learning Centre have been working in the permaculture garden.

Argentina

• Use to 21st schoolhouse to share scientific data with local community and share via internet with the global community.
  Local Action
  1. Stream monitoring (water quality) over last 10 years. Looking at the effect of water pollution on local community. Clean up projects. Goal that all members of the community take on the responsibility and model respect for their water supply.
  2. Look at the local diseases collecting data and then presenting that back to the community.
  3. Integrated Environment Regional Project. Recycling paper & plastics Looking at the health issues that maybe associated with it. - Junin - See Health project.

  Community Action
  School is becoming a resource for the government agencies. This is because they do not have any environmental management agencies, therefore grass root local committees are taking on the responsibility for making the rules that govern the development of their region.

Local Action
Vision Must educate students to be humans first.
1. Hearts & Hands Around the the World project. Raising money to others in need.
2. Nature Project:
   • Year 9 students Theoretically studying water resources, conservation and pollution and linking the health problems.
   • Practically water sampling and analysis then effects of chemicals in water on plant production.
   • Composting on how to compost and benefits to soil.
   • Share results of all projects with many other schools in the area.

Community Action

1. Ecological bubble the Biosphere uses nature to clean water using plants and natural filtering systems.
2. Summer school - were students develop more intense understanding of problems within their regions. Youth to Youth projects
   • Returning students teach younger students, producing a video on air pollution (comparing three places of industrial and agricultural areas.) and publish newspapers articles.
   • Sharing these with other countries Palestine - Israel - Jordan.
3. Health Project - Focus of results of local diseases collaborate with govt. agencies - difficult agencies do not want to share. Students share information with other grades , made articles brochures, pamphlets

1. Take your community to Work Project Job shadows and work experience. Organise basket ball tournaments for the community
2. Focus on healthy lifestyles - particularly on teenage health issues.
   Research project on skin cancer doing a comparison between Australia and USA and the reasons why.
   Wrote articles for internet magazine.
   Conducted a survey via internet Created a website information campaign
   Participate in community awareness campaigns.
   Connect with agencies that provided information on skin cancer.
   Reseached E. coli, lung cancer, water contamination, asbestos contamination.

   Build community park and community gardens, Assist in fund raising for Habitat.
   Building home for the Homeless.

Uganda

1. Last Year: Wetlands Management.
2. Project on Fighting Hunger - "Food for all"
   - 70 students working in groups. Studying regions in the world were they go hungry and then work out why? Environment- climate, lifestyle, Farming and selling produce that increases the pressure on the land.
   Set up demonstration farm showing crop rotation plant and harvest at right time. And Animal husbandry and there place in agriculuture
3. Health - Focus on Malaria and Cholera These link with the school's research on water issues and cleanliness. See Health projects on Website. ProjectsCommunity awareness on importance of their research findings and the importance for change in the lifestyle habits on water management, immediate environment and cleanliness.

Local Action
• Made a CD rom of the Perth Environmental Youth Summit
• Completed stage 1 of the health research
• Planning for the 2001 summit.
        - Developing the theme
        - A draft itinery,
        - Addressing changes in the legislative process
        - And how culture, school life and student's vision of their future into the summit agenda.

• Selection of students:
        - written 5 articles and run a parents evening,26 students have committed to the next summit
        - Tomoki will be one of the leaders.

Community Action:

• Entered and won 1st prize in a English Speaking Competition on their research and a synopsis of the Perth Summit.
• Earth Day Clean-up Project.
