The 21st Century Schoolhouse intends to host the conference and sponsor the accommodations, meals, local excursions and airport transfers for the participants. Each country participating in The 21st Century Schoolhouse is invited to send a team of three. Teams should be made up of the Country Director, A Lead Teacher and a Lead Student. At the conference, teams will receive training that will equip students and staff to participate in Schoolhouse 2000.
The training will focus on preparing participants to gather and analyze local environmental data as it relates to the outbreak of disease. Upon completing the training session, teams may choose to return to their country to investigate an outbreak impacting their respective local communities. Research and information regarding local outbreaks can be presented on The 21st Century Schoolhouse Web site. Students from each country can use this information to collaborate on solutions and public information campaigns addressing the environment as it relates to disease in each school's community.
During the week, The 21st Century Schoolhouse will also have the opportunity to hold its annual Directors Meeting. The meeting will focus on old and new business related to the Schoolhouse, an evaluation of Schoolhouse goals, discussions related to preparations for the Toyama, Japan Summit and the development of ideas designed to enhance the the Schoolhouse.
