AN ENVIRONMENTAL SCRAPBOOK



DIRECTIONS:

You will keep a scrapbook of selected work completed in this course. This will be an ongoing project that will last the entire year.

Several times throughout the year you will participate in an activity that you must complete and include in your scrapbook. Activities will be based on newspaper articles, magazine articles, music, pictures, a story, video, debates, discussions, lectures and problem solving.

REQUIREMENTS:

A) A separate notebook or folder

B) A cover page representing a theme from your scrapbook. You also must

include the scrapbook outline (this paper) inside your notebook or

folder.

C) A table of contents

D) The individual scrapbook activities must be neatly placed in the front of

each entry. (do not write on the activity direction sheet)

E) Your answers/responses to each activity must be thoughtful, neat and well

organized

F) A concluding essay ( one page minimum ) which begins with the

following incomplete sentence:

"By completing this scrapbook, I learned..."

G) The overall presentation of your scrapbook must be creative, neat and

well organized.

FOUR KEYS TO A SUCCESSFUL SCRAPBOOK:

A) Be creative - "Dare to be Different!"

B) Complete the activities as you receive them! Falling behind will cost you!

C) Ask for help - show rough drafts of completed activities to your group

leader or one of your teachers.

D) Discuss ideas with parents, teachers, group leaders, friends and other

students .

GRADING:

Each semester, your scrapbook will represent 25% of your grade. Your points will be based on each of the three following aspects:

RECALL OF KNOWLEDGE:

1. Recall some facts

2. Accurately recall some facts

3. Accurately recall a range of facts

4. Accurately recall a wide range of facts

5. Accurately recall an inclusive range of facts

PROCESSING INFORMATION:

1. Process some information accurately

2. Process most information accurately

3. Process most information accurately and attempt to draw conclusions

4. Process information accurately and draw conclusions

5. Process information accurately and draw valid conclusions

COMMUNICATING INFORMATION:

1. Attempts to communicate information and ideas

2. Communicates information and ideas

3. Communicates information and ideas clearly

4. Communicates information and ideas clearly and logically

5. Communicates information and ideas clearly, logically and effectively
