Did you Know?
According to the current survey' 96% of the rivers, marshes, and sea areas in Toyama Prefecture now meet environmental standards.
Pesticides pollute the water by accumulating at the bottom of the rivers and lakes.
A lot of energy and materials are needed to purify the dirty water. To prevent this water pollution, conserving water is most important (we can think of ways to reuse water; for example, when washing clothes, and so on).

Hormones are chemicals in the human body, which influence growth, development, and so on. Materials, which disturb the function of the hormones, such as pesticides, plastic material, and dioxin, are called: "environmental hormones"
How to protect ourselves from environmental hormones:
- To protect ourselves from pesticides, we can ban the use of harmful pesticides and change our diets in order not to accumulate the harmful materials in our bodies.
- To protect ourselves from harmful plastic, we can ban the production of harmful plastic, separate plastic and PET garbage from other garbage, develop recycled plastic products, etc.
- To protect ourselves from dioxin, we can incinerate garbage at high temperatures and at special incineration facilities, and reduce chemical substances in our food and shelter environment (synthetic fibers, chipboard, insulation, carpeting, and upholstery may produce hazardous gases).

The heat of the sun is absorbed by the earth. Later, it goes into the atmosphere in the form of infrared rays. The Greenhouse Effect occurs when the rays are absorbed by chemicals like CO2 and methane gases and the heat becomes trapped and cannot be set free into outer space.
What does Global Warming mean for the earth?
- As for Asia, rice paddies stretching along the coastal plains will produce less crops because of the rising of the sea level. This causes a food shortage and causes the number of "environmental refurees" to increase.
- The rate of desertification increases because less rain falls.
What increases the amount of C02 in the atmosphere?
- The increasing consumption of large amounts of fossil energy.
- The destruction of forests (photosynthesis absorbs C02)
- Water pollution in the sea (it means the extinction of the ecosystem which absorbs C02).
What can we do to stop Global Warming?
- Preserve the forests (use recycled paper), grow plants at home.
- Save energy (for example, keep early hours and reduce the amount of lighting, heating and so on, used during the night).
- Drive less, bike or walk if possible, use public transportation.
- Do not throw garbage into the sea and rivers.
- Inform the government of our opinions and thoughts (We can make good use of the internet!).
