Upon selecting the public health concern/disease, create a web site that can be used as a public information tool designed to educate your community about the health concern/disease. Your public information web site should include the following:
Please make your web site interesting and visual. Make sure you create it in your native language. If you wish, you may choose to have students in foreign language classes create a modified version of your web site in a second language.The name and definition of the public health concern/disease. Description of the local environmental factors that can be linked to the health concern/disease. Symptoms of the health concern/disease. Description of how the health concern/disease is impacting your local community. Provide current statistics on number of people within your community that are affected by the health concern/disease. Identify and provide links to the local, national and global health or environmental agencies that are monitoring the health concern/disease in your local community. Describe the role education and the media plays in your community in terms of preventing or controlling the health concern/disease. Describe the role of the medical community in your area in terms of preventing, treating, or controlling the health concern/disease. Describe the role of environmental agencies/groups are playing to address the environmental problem(s) linked to the local health concern/disease. Write an article that compares and contrasts the health concern/disease in your local community to the same health concern/disease that is impacting another country within The 21st Century Schoolhouse. (To write your article, email a student who completed the research phase about the selected health concern/disease and send them a short questionnaire about the health concern/disease. Use the returned questionnaire to help you write article.) Include any other information or visuals you wish to have on your web site to further educate others about how your selected health concern/disease impacts your local community. Please send us the URL (Internet address) of the completed web site or you may send us the web site as an attached document on an email and we will link it to The 21st Century Schoolhouse server.
