Elements of a Good Website



What makes a good website?

You will soon want to put up your own pages. Both for your own personal web portfolio and for your school website.
Before you do, you should decide - "What makes a good website?" Is it -

  1. the graphics (how the page looks)
  2. how easy it is to find your way around
  3. how quickly the page downloads
  4. how useful the information on the site is
  5. how interesting the content of the site is
  6. how often the pages on the site change
  7. how interactive the site is (can you add your own input?)

Maybe it is a bit of all of this.

Many people, when they first put up a web page, think that the more things move on the page, the better it is.
So they have a lot of things like this:

These things look nice at first, but after you see them for the first time, you don't find them that interesting anymore.
And they make the page take a longer time to download
So, if you are going to use these "animated gifs", use them only where you think you really need them.
