
"THE ROAD TO THE SUMMIT" PRESENTATION (International Banquet)
Each delegation is requested to make a 5 to 10 minute visual presentation
which describes what your delegation did to make it to the Summit. During
this time, you may choose to have your students do a short presentation
which is reflective of your culture. Please feel free to organize this
presentation as you wish.
THE PREAMBLE COMMITTEEThe Declaration of Environmental Rights and Responsibilities will include a
PREAMBLE. The preamble will be a general statement (one paragraph) which
explains the purpose of the Declaration..The preamble will be crafted and agreed upon by a small multinational
committee. This committee will be empowered to write and adopt the
preamble. Each delegation, must choose ONE representative to participate
in the Preamble Committee.Please have your representative bring a ONE paragraph draft of what your
delegation thinks would be a good Preamble. All the delegations drafts
will be shared at the Preamble committee to facilitate the process of
writing a Preamble that will be based on the consensus of the committee.
THE SCREENING COMMITTEEIn the event that a delegation has concerns or objections to the proposed
Articles, a multinational Screening Committee will be created. The
multinational Screening Committee will be empowered to address any
potential problems with the proposed Articles and finalize the format for
the official Declaration of Environmental Rights and Responsibilities.
Once it is finalized and shared with each delegation, it will be formally
adopted the at General Assembly . You are requested to choose TWO
representatives to participate on the Screening CommitteeEach of the delegations proposed Articles for the Declaration will be
accessible on the Environmental Summit web site. Each delegation must
read and analyze all the proposed Articles from EACH country before they
arrive at the Summit. If a delegation has any objections, concerns or
discovers Articles that seem to be identical, they must inform their
representatives so the screening committee can address and remedy the
concern(s).
OPENING NIGHT CEREMONYEach delegation is requested to select a student speaker(s) to make a short
2 to 5 minute speech on the following theme:The delegations HOPES for the Summit are...
PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH AT THE OPENING OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLYA team of students from your delegation must prepare a 20 to 30 minute
multi-media presentation which outlines your research area. Please provide
us with the names of students that will give the presentation as well as
any equipment need that you will require. ( i.e. video machine, slide
projector, overhead projector, CD/Tape Player, PC viewer, computer,
software, etc.)
THE MULTINATIONAL COMMITTEESAs you recall, after the opening of the General Assembly, delegates will
be divided into multinational committees that are based on each schools
research area. During this time, the multinational committees will discuss
and craft solutions that address each of the 12 Articles for the research
area.Each multinational committee will be led by a Chairperson and Vice
Chairperson from the country that completed the Articles and Research. For
example, the multinational committee for Toxic Waste would be
led by a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson from Israel, the multinational
committee for Rapid Urbanization will be led by a Chairperson and Vice
Chairperson South Africa, etc.
PRESENTATION OF SOLUTIONS AT THE CLOSING OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLYFor the closing of the General Assembly, EACH multinational committee will
select a team to present the committees conclusions and solutions as they
relate to the Articles. This selection will take place during the 3 days of
work within the multinational committees at the Summit.
CLOSING NIGHT CEREMONYEach delegation is requested organize a 3-5 minute departing message. As a
team of international educators, we will work together to define a common
theme for this presentation. This decision will made by Wednesday
September 10.
